The Trainsmission Company was developed by founders with deep roots in the development of energy projects and labor unions. Our team has over a dozen members with backgrounds stemming from the IBEW, railroads, grid-planning and the project development industry with over $10B of infrastructure deployed. Meet our team:

Founder & CEO

Christopher Smith

Chris has over a decade of project development experience, including $1.5 billion in developed renewable energy and transition projects while developing and training the contractors and labor workforces necessary to design, install and maintain megaprojects.

Head of Engineering

Christopher Doyle

IBEW master electrician and project manager with significant experience in the energy infrastructure development industry. Christopher is now leading development and execution of SunTrain projects.

Jeff Anderson

Jeff is a seasoned environmental and energy lawyer who brings more than 25 years of leadership at the intersection of finance, clean technology, and legal strategy. At SunTrain, Jeff leverages his deep expertise to guide clean infrastructure development and drive capital-efficient growth, positioning the company at the forefront of rail-based energy storage innovation.

GIS & researcher

Alex Lantsberg

Alex has supported the development of the unionized electrical industry's projects for decades via applied research, GIS, advocacy and general project management. Alex continues these roles for SunTrain megaprojects.

Ramsay Stevens

Ramsay is a veteran clean energy strategist with more than a decade of leadership experience advancing equitable development for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. His experience structuring capital-efficient, high-impact initiatives aligns seamlessly with SunTrain’s mission to scale energy infrastructure for utilities like PG&E.

Head of Railroad Operations

Lance Jerkins

25 year railroad operator and previously worked for Union PAcific for 13 years. Lance is currently the COO of OGRE RR at the Port of Oakland and will head railroad operations for active SunTrain projects.
